UI & GIS Designs
In this workflow are three samples from my latest projects involving User Interfaces (UI) and Geographic Information System (GIS) Mashups for the iPhone.
The first project is an ongoing assignment for the American Sailing Association. The UI is based on the iPhones native navigation scheme giving the user an immediate familiarity. The app uses individual components or widgets to delivery data to the user. Once such widget is the weather component which uses the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for its data and is a quick reference guide for sailors. This app is currently available here in the Apple App Store.
The second and third projects are in the later stages of development and testing. These Mashups incorporate various disciplines in the world of GIS. LunarNautics, an app for Lunar land conservation, uses a Latitude and Longitude Graticule as the foundation for parcel location. This grid system is based on Earths own coordinate system, latitude is 0 to 90 degrees followed by North or South and longitude is 0 to 180 East and 0 to 180 West. WeatherNautics also uses the Latitude and Longitude Graticule and delivers its weather data to the various map overlays through the Keyhole Markup Language (KML).
